July...Already?

Posted on July 1st, 2022

It's July 1st. Every time I take a good look at the calendar, I feel that the days are quickly passing me by. It is bittersweet. I know the future that awaits me will be nothing short of amazing, but I have greatly enjoyed this summer and the memories I have made throughout it. Not too sure if I am ready for it to end.

Gambit

A major component of Gambit is the electromagnet. It is responsible for moving the pieces on command. With that in mind, it has to be able to turn on and off on command. I spent some time figuring out how to do so.

I spent more time than I would like to admit in understanding how to accurately wire the system. It wasn't until I found this schematic that I was able to do so.

Circuit Schematic

This schematic allowed me to quickly create a script that allowed for the magnet to turn on and off on command.

I also added parts to my assembly model. The parts were with respect to the housing. Rather than going with a design that would be difficult to fabricate, I went ahead and just created a basic box that will hold all of the electronics that I can build upon whenever I am ready to.

The Social Network

There's few movies that can motivate me to be more than what I am. The Social Network is one of them. If you haven't seen it, you definetely should. Even though it puts a bit of a negative limelight on the creation of Facebook or what is now Meta, it gets me in the groove to work on something that I am passionate about.

Habit Tracking

Today, I journaled, worked out, read, tracked my caloric intake, and worked on at least one of my personal projects. Today was a good day.

What I am thankful for

I am thankful for movies. They have been fundamental in introducing me to new ideas and making my mind wander to new worlds and perspectives.
